The Team

MRC McLean Hazel

MRCMH is a future mobility design consultancy based in Edinburgh. The company is a memeber of the MMM Group – a privately held Canadian company offering comprehensive consulting services in project management, engineering, planning, and geomatics to government and private sector clients across Canada and overseas.   MRCMH has been working at the forefront of the urban mobility field for many years. Within our team we have a range of experience gained in technology delivery companies, consultancy, Government, academic and research spheres. Our knowledge spans spatial, social, economic, and urban development issues and we have extensive global best practice expertise in all of these areas. In particular we have a strong interest incentivising behaviour change in a way that supports individuals’ lifestyles and wider city ambitions.

Curvor

Curvor is an app development company with strong interests in designing user experience to influence or modify behaviours.  They have deep experience of developing a travel related service (http://drivegain.com) which relies heavily on GPS data. The DriveGain iPhone application is a major part of this service. In addition, Curvor is based in Leeds and has excellent connections into the technology networks there. Simon East from Curvor frequently contributes to the Service Design Leeds, Leeds Met NTI and LSx networking events in the city.  Curvor would like to leverage these networks to help take the initial London service and apply it to Leeds.

The ALISS project

The ALISS project is building infrastructure that allows others to provide better community information. Having developed the ALISS Engine as an open source platform focussing on health information, we are keen to explore with others how it can be used to improve and create local information services in other settings.  This will become particularly relevant in later stages of development of the Walk-About app.  As well as the Engine technology, ALISS develops community engagement and asset mapping processes – the project benefits greatly from participating in new projects that not only demonstrate their use but also collect local data that we can then share widely to the benefit of communities.
